Janey Girl - Second Single Video Release - Come into the Kitchen! 5,100 views in 2 Days on Facebook!
A Canadian song, written by a Canadian Artist, with a video shot in a Canadian location - Ucluelet British Columbia, and a song recorded at a Canadian Studio - Duke Street Studios in North Bay, Ontario, Canada with Canadian Producer and multi-instrumentalist, Peter Cliche. Those who check out my Facebook page have spoken and watched it 5,100 times in 2 days of it being out and I have to say how grateful I am for this response. Releasing a song can be compared to letting go of the hands of your child when they take their first step. You get nervous at first and then excited and back to nervous. I wrote this song over 3 years ago and the first "professional" person I played it for was Juno award winning songwriter, Murray Foster at the Toronto Songwriting School's course in St. John's Newfoundland. It was the song I selected to be critiqued and when I finished playing it, he said, "I will give you a million dollars for that song". I think I cried. It is my general response when I am overwhelmed with joy. I told him, "write the cheque, I'm ready". At that time I was scared and unsure of my writing. Two albums out and songs on the my city's radio station, had a Christmas special on the local Cogeco TV Station and had been playing around at local establishments, but still not sure people were in love with my music and very insecure. He asked me when I felt I would be successful since I had reached some pretty big milestones in my career. I wasn't sure how to answer. He told me, "you are already there, go out and enjoy the music." Then I went on to work on the remainder of my album. I sent him an email to see if he wanted this song and he never responded, so it is on my album.
I have filled out a few applications for different music grants and opportunities, had a documentary made on my journey by Sudbury Performance Group called, Northern Roots - available on YouTube and have had people tell me how much I have inspired them to follow their dream. This is where the, "SUCCESSFUL" part comes into my view. Inspiring others, in my mind, is how I see my success. To be able to encourage and inspire myself to continue on my musical journey and to do this for others. Being a good role model to help others.
